I am inspired! Domestic Witch is having a GIVEAWAY for people participating in her
Random Acts of Kindness Campaign.
I love this.
I am a fan of . . .
paying for someone else’s food at the drive-thru,
leaving cute little cards with beautiful sayings lying around,
and dropping coins for others to find them.
Her site gives clever ideas that would brighten anyone’s day.
But don’t stop there.
The SKY is the LIMIT!
I vow to do at least one Random Act of Kindness each day this month.
Will you join me?
Small gestures can make the world a more beautiful place . . .
My kind of March Madness
- Brought lunch to my co-workers – lasagna, yum!
- Took a dollar and a handful of change on my walk – sprinkled it about town. I was giddy thinking someone may find it and go . . . “wow, the Universe is abundant!”
- Visited Starbucks for some tea after class and gave the guy an additional $10 for the person(s) in line behind me (and tip for them) ~ paid kindness to the Universe by taking my own mug!
- Subbed a yoga class for a fellow teacher who is in Mexico. Only two students attended. I told them about the Random Acts of Kindness and that their class was free. One girl, M, who I just met through this class said she’d definitely pay it forward
Brought sushi home for the hubby ~ a treat he loves! - Used parts of The Prayer of Compassion with everyone I came into contact with today and especially for my students. Here is how it goes: May all beings be free from suffering. May all beings be at peace. May all beings be healed. May all beings be happy. May all beings be at peace. In doing this, I replace all beings with you (or I on some occasions). I say it to myself silently toward each person. I sometimes just say one of the sentences instead of all of them.
- Visited Amish Country with M and my parents. Nice day. Bought organic cheese. Found a gumball machine and left an extra quarter in it for the next person.
- Took a walk. It’s beautiful! Smiled and greeted everyone I came into contact with.
- Put money in a parking meter two spaces down from mine today. No one was there yet, so a great treat for when they showed up. Put M’s hair up in pin curls after her shower tonight. I’ve been wearing mine wavy/curly more and she was mad this morning when hers didn’t look that way. Should be great when she wakes tomorrow.
- My kindness was surrounded by nature today. It is almost 60 degrees and sunny. Beautiful. I took Haize, our sweet male chihuahua, for a walk while Maya (our female chihuahua) stayed home with J. I usually don’t separate them, but since he was home, it was perfect. I also cleaned out the fridge and pantry and fed some seeds and cereal to the birds and squirrels that live in our backyard.
- Treated my students to a lovely Yoga Nidra practice allowing them to relax more deeply before finals next week.
- Received my UOWHO Kindness bracelets in the mail today. Gave one to M to use at school beginning tomorrow.
- Treated my Friday class to Yoga Nidra practice as well.
- Most of my kindness was paid to This Old House. Treated dad to pizza for helping.
- This Old House again.
- Fed two additional meters at work today.
- Paid for the Starbucks customer behind me.
- Left a card that said “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.” in the Lowe’s bathroom.
- With the water off and sporadic electricity, this quest sort of went by the wayside for a few days.
- Graciously listened to my father and husband curse from morning until evening with all of the work around here.
- Paid for Starbucks for the two cars behind me.
Fast forward to March 31st.
That is TODAY.
I was not able to continue recording my daily actions after the 20th. With my house in complete disarray, it was hard to focus on much more than that. However, what I came to realize just a few weeks in was that . . .
I DO typically perform Random Acts of Kindness on most days, just naturally.
It makes me feel happy and grateful.

I absolutely LOVE it!!!
Love your mission! Definitely think that you can make a difference with random acts of kindness, otherwise I wouldn’t be involved with UOWHO.COM Check it out – maybe you might like to try our bracelets as part of your experiment – they act as a great reminder for people to pay it forward. I’m sure we could let you have some to try out, especially if you will write about your experiences with them … Just a thought!

Jasper,
I just checked out your site. I would absolutely love to try them out and would def write about it. I am beginning a post tomorrow that will continue through the end of the month detailing what I’m doing for the Random Acts of Kindness Campaign. Thanks! How did you find me?
Heather
Hi Heather,
I found you on Twitter – somebody tweeted (or Re-Tweeted) about your project. Email me your address (jasper@uowho.com) and I’ll send you out one of our multi-color 8-packs to try out. We would love to hear about your experiences with them. There are several places you can do that – all linked from our website – http://uowho.com – including Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and our blog – http://uowho.com/blog/2010/02/post-your-stories-here/
In the meantime I shall add you to our blogroll!

Heather, this is an awesome idea! I can’t wait to hear what other little acts you manage. I’m going to try and do the same whenever I can — it’s hard to promise every day when I have so many papers to keep me super busy, but I’ll do my best!
How wonderful! (I love that photo at the bottom as well.)
I set my intention to do at least one act of kindness a day – whether that is for a stranger, my husband, my kids, family or friends…or myself.
Have you checked out Secret Agent L (http://secretagentlinpgh.blogspot.com/) or Operation Nice (http://www.operationnice.com/)? Both beautiful women sharing the kindness ….
Thanks so much for the links, Lisa! I will definitely check them out. Have a lovely day!!
I will definitely join. I love random acts of kindness. I like leaving little notes for people in library books

I love the idea of leaving a card like the one you left at Lowe’s, I’m stealing that idea. Thanks!
