I don’t like to set New Year’s Resolutions. The word, resolution, seems so final to me. So easy to fall short. Life is not linear. It’s cyclical. Everything continues and comes back. We make mistakes, learn and then repeat those mistakes, sometimes over and over.
What I’ve done the last several years is to set Intentions for myself. Intention sounds more meaningful and active to me. Each day we awaken and can “intend” the things we wish to manifest in our lives. While New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day is a great time to think about these intentions, every day is really a good day. Every day is new and an opportunity to create. I am so thankful for the things I’ve manifested in my life over the past year and intend to continue to manifest more wonderfulness!
So, my very loose 2010 New Year’s Intentions are as follows:
- To be more green. J and I have made great strides over the past year ~ recycling, composting, a bigger garden, etc. However, there is still more we could do.
- I intend to read. 24 books is my goal. Doesn’t sound like much, but it’s 2 books per month. That’s do-able for me.
- I intend to write more, both in blog and article format. I think I’ll intend 2 of each per week. Again, it’s an intention, not a hard and fast rule. I’m hoping to write more than that, but at least two would feel great to me.
- I intend to be mindful and in the moment. This is something I’ve been intending for some time, so it’s nothing new. And, I think I’m getting better at it.
- I intend to do two major updates to our house – reworking the plumbing and building a deck. Fingers crossed!
- I intend to listen better and incorporate more silence into my life.
- I intend to laugh more and to not take myself so seriously. Seriously! he he
That’s it for now. What are your intentions this year?

Intentions are a great idea and your list sounds very reasonable!! GL!
